Now that there are so many options, how do you know which one to choose? We carefully researched an array of streaming providers and apps to give you the insights to make your own decision. Which one will you go with?

Netflix

The prices varies per package, but can range anywhere from $35 to $70 per month. It is different than the above streaming services because it is more focused on TV channels, rather than on demand movies. It’s great for anyone who is always looking for something new.

Hulu

Hulu is an on-demand video service that allows users to stream popular TV shows in the U.S and Japan. Surprisingly, it is co-owned by The Walt Disney Company, 21st CenturyFox and Comcast. It focuses more on streaming new TV shows and its own original content.

Unlike Netflix, Hulu’s basic package includes commercials, however, there is a tiered option that allows you to remove this.

The traditional Hulu streaming service is now a subscription based model, including an ad-supported tier for $8 per month and an ad-free tier for $12 per month. Hulu with Live TV is $40 per month for limited ads or $44 per month for ad-free viewing.

There are many different options for streaming TV and movies on your phone. You just need to decide which one is right for you.

How to Watch Videos from Your Smart Phone on TV

There are many tv service providers that allow you to stream their services directly from your smart phone. However, there are also a ton of other options available for you. Check out these great ways to enjoy watching videos on your phone.

Wired Connection

Almost all smartphones can plug into an HDMI-available TV. This will allow you to stream whatever you’re viewing on your smart phone directly on your TV.  This includes watching videos, viewing pictures, surfing the internet, and even playing apps and other games on your TV.

The benefit from using a wired connection is you don’t have to rely on a strong wifi connection. The only downside is that you might have a short HDMI cord. You can easily find a longer one online, or at your nearest tech store.

Wireless Video Streaming

If you’re not interested in using a wired connection, you can always go wireless. The good thing about smart phones is they can easily communicate with a smart TV. Some of those options include: Roku Streaming Stick which allows you to mirror your android screen on TV. This can be achieved by going into the Roku settings and setting the cast option to your Roku.

Additionally, check out Miracast. This awesome device allows you to stream your smart phone over WiFi (it’s even compatible with Windows).

If you have an iOS device, AirPlay lets you wireless stream music, video and photos right to your TV. The downside is that it requires an Apple TV. However, the setup is very simple and may be worth looking into if you’re not very tech savvy. It’s super simple to use and it even makes a great gift to give during the holidays.

The benefit to wireless streaming is that it is supported by most top apps such as: Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, YouTube and even Vimeo.

Go Smart!

If you’re looking for a last ditch option, consider getting a smart TV. Smart TV’s that are DLNA-certified are able to communicate with your phone to instantly deliver output to a screen. DLNA simply means Digital Living Network Alliance. These devices are capable of connecting with another DLNA –certified projector, set-top box, as well as an Xbox One.

The upside to using a smart TV is similar to that of the other wireless options in that you don’t need to worry about using wires, or other streaming devices.

Watching Videos from Your Phone is Easy

There are many different options to fit your situation, and it will ultimately depend on what you feel comfortable doing. If you have an iOS device and an Apple TV, then it might be easier to just use that option. If you only have a smart phone and are in the market for a new TV, consider purchasing a Smart TV that is DLNA-certified for an easy streaming solution.

And lastly, if you have a poor WiFi connection, considering on using a wired solution.

How to Speed Up Your Smart Phone’s Internet

You’re sitting in bed trying to catch up on Twitter to see what you’ve missed throughout the day and notice every time you’re watching a video it tends to load extremely slowly on your mobile device. Why is that? Well there are a plethora of factors that can affect your phones internet speed. Ultimately, it will depend on your internet provider, but there are some tricks that can help speed up and resolve this issue.

If you’re suffering from slow internet speed on your Android or iOS device, here are some tricks for you.

1. Download Performance-Enhancing Apps

There are many apps that can help remove clutter, or duplicate files on your phone. While these may not necessary be directly related to internet, they could help your phone process information faster which results in a smoother and faster experience.

Clean Master

This application is a phone booster and antivirus. It works to reduce junk files, notifications and remove viruses, while scanning background noise to remove all interference.

Systweak Android Cleaner

This awesome app works to organize your phone files and clutter to improve battery consumption which will enhance how all apps run on your device.

2. Disable or Uninstall Unused Apps & Widgets

Did you know that many apps your phone comes with preinstalled can actually be removed? This is something many users are not aware of, but they can drastically increase your phones performance and connection speed.

The first step to take would be to remove any widgets and app from your home screen. These are usually the largest files and take up the most space on your phone. If you’re on android, you have to remove it from the home screen, and then delete it from your files.

A tip to remember is that not all apps can be deleted. There are some that are core to your phone produced by the manufacturer. So remove what you can – and you will see a difference.

3. Install an Ad Blocker App

Ad blockers are a really great resource because they can prevent a page from loading bloatware and unnecessary scripts. This is harmful to page loading time because your phone will use your internet to load pieces of content that you don’t even want to see. AdBlockers can be installed in the App and Google Play store. Depending on your preference and which one you want to use will be up to you.

Something to remember is that Adblockers can actually interfere with website performances. So if you notice a page you regularly visit acting weird, just disable the adblocker for that page and it will behave as normal. The result of a properly adblocked page is a smooth user expeirnece with blazing fast page speed. You’ll definitely notice the difference.

Other Options for Phone Speed

If you’ve taken all these steps and still notice your phone’s internet isn’t as fast as you hoped, consider on taking your phone to your service provider and making them aware of the problem. Chances are there are settings or maybe a configuration error. They can help diagnose and fix these issues with ease.

How Smartphones Have Changed Concert Experiences

Concert experiences are one of the most authentic attractions that millions of Americans attend every year. They may watch movies at home or exercise in their basements, but they cannot capture the mood and energy of a concert without going to one. This excitement has remained in recent years, but another ubiquitous presence at many concerts is the smartphone. These devices have helped to augment the fan experience and share concert episodes, but they also cause challenges for bands and other concertgoers. Self Driving Cars Continue to Be Developed, But May Still Be Decades Away

Self-driving cars. The term brings several things to the minds of people involved with developing them, making rules to ensure safety, those of who wish to purchase them, and to everyone else who will be sharing the roads with them and wonder what their ramifications may be. Many people no doubt wonder what the future of self-driving cars will be and whether they will become fully autonomous. Will a driver simply get in the car and let it get them where he/she wants to go? All the time, in all weather conditions? The car will make all the decisions driven by complicated computer algorithms, GPS, and a multitude of sensors.

However, private autonomous cars are a long way off, good news for people who like to have some control over where they’re going and how they want to get there. Driverless Future noted that the first users of such vehicles are more likely to be fleet owners, taxi companies, and bus operators who will get the benefits of lower servicing costs and operate on largely pre-set routes that can be easily programmed into vehicles.

Technology and Development

Self-driving cars will revolutionize the way people spend their time. Rather than worrying about checking your social feeds, taking calls, and answering emails during a morning commute, people will be able to do all this just as they would on their couch, without the dangers of distracted driving. Therefore, more time can be dedicated to tasks that usually cannot be performed while driving, making us even more efficient.

Most companies are still in the design stages of these vehicles. Tesla stands out as the furthest along in the process, as the company is rolling out testing on the second version of the software behind this new technology. The Palo Alto company seems to be running out in the forefront despite concerns and questions from skeptics.

The main technical difficulties are that mapping, algorithms to cope with snow, ice, and rain and the necessity to program cars that can drive anywhere in the world make it all but impossible to have private fully autonomous cars on the roads anytime soon. They could be decades away if we ever see them at all. There are other issues with social implications which are now beginning to occupy the minds of developers of self-driving vehicles along with insurance costs and ethical considerations.

An Insurance Nightmare

Regarding insurance issues, many have raised the issue of who would be responsible for damages in an accident involving a self-driving vehicles. The driver would be the most likely to be held responsible, but there are issues nevertheless that are yet to be resolved. Two big issues are when the vehicle would hand control the car back to the driver and why, and the likelihood of a glitch in a program which would affect all vehicles made using it (different manufacturers would use different parameters as well to further complicate things.) This would lead the courts to be the ultimate arbiters of fault, and it could take some years before these legal matters are sorted out one way or the other. Let’s say that for the foreseeable future the driver of the car will be one responsible for its safe operation.

The Moral Dilemma

Social implications were raised by The Washington Post when they questioned how long society would tolerate self-driving cars when they become responsible for taking a human life. Policy makers in Washington have begun addressing this and it remains an issue that will without a doubt be addressed elsewhere. Will we extend cars the same leeway we give to people who cause fatalities while driving? We tend to forgive people easily, and the question is will we forgive mechanical devices too? Potential advances in AI only make this more complicated.

These questions will continue to be looked at and addressed into the future as self-driving cars continue to be developed and become an increasing presence on roads of the world. They are here and they are here to stay.

Netflix Teases Mindflix, Which Allows You to Browse With Your Brain

By: Adam Hayes

Netflix is the pioneering service that revolutionized video rental, and essentially, put it out of business. It began streaming movies and television series, which eventually turned into Netflix original series’. It became bigger and continued to change the landscape of home entertainment, and eventually, competitors popped up to try and get a piece of the pie. Netflix continues to dominate the competition, and it recently teased the public with something extraordinary.

Could Streaming Entertainment Integrate Telepathic Technology?

According to a release from Russia on January 31st, Netflix teased the public with something called Mindflix. MindFlix technology would make selecting what to watch on Netflix essentially telepathic. MindFlix technology would center around a piece of headband tech, and the headband would let users go through the Netflix library, add shows to their watch list and incredibly, allow users to watch shows just by nodding their heads.

MindFlix Would Make Binge Watching Even Easier

Once the technology is developed, not only will it make selecting entertainment easier, it would will delight “binge watchers”. At the risk of offending people who watch a lot of Netflix and people who love to find a new series and watch it for hours on end, MindFlix would make things not just easier, but lazier. Instead of moving their fingers, would just have to flick their head a bit. With more and more “cord cutting” taking place, this is just another step in the evolution of home entertainment.A lot of people are probably wondering how this development came about though.

NetFlix Hack Days

According to Business Insider, to come up with new ideas, Netflix routinely holds something it calls “hack days“. During a “hack day”, Netflix employees get 24 hours to develop new and interesting technology devoted solely to the Netflix platform. They get to show their projects off, and the best one to develop recently was MindFlix. The hackers employed by Netflix came up with the brain-reading, movie-selecting headband by tweaking another brain-reading headband developed by Muse. The Muse headband is usually used for guided meditation. To be completely honest, the MindFlix headband is not directly reading your thoughts. It is close though. It senses certain brain activity and uses the feedback to control some already-established actions.

When Will MindFlix Become Available?

It is hard to say when the tech will become available. According to the Netflix Tech Blog, Netflix is thankful for the creativity and effort put into the projects, but most never come to pass. The buzz around MindFlix would make it hard for Netflix to pass up pursuit though, which is purely speculation of course. It is difficult to pass up something that looks so feasible according to video and pass up generating continuous income, especially when it is something people obviously want.

Netflix has certainly changed the home entertainment landscape with its technology combined with developing Internet technology. Also, Netflix let the public know MindFlix might not come to pass like so many other projects developed on “hack day”. One has to doubt that Netflix would pass up something as tempting as Mindflix.

5 Gadgets We Hope Arrive In 2017

5 Gadgets We Hope Arrive In 2017

Yes we are finally in the year 2017, and no we do not have flying cars…yet. The beautiful aspect about technology is that it will never stop, as we are never content with what we have, constantly pushing ourselves to create new and cutting-edge technology. Here are five gadgets we are looking forward to or hope to develop in 2017.

The Injury-Proof Automobile

This technology, proposed by Volvo, invites drivers to enjoy their cruise with an extra layer of insurance. Through the use of various sonar, radar, and other technologies, the company intends to create a system that will both prevent and lessen the impact of crashes, and will ensure that both drivers and their passengers will survive virtually any car crash. Other car manufacturers, such as Lexus and Mercedes Benz are looking into this type of technology as well. With the competition in motion to create the safest automobile, this technology may be available in 2017. When you combine this with Uber’s up and coming driverless car technology, the automobile industry could be headed for a complete tech boom that will change everything we know about travel.

The Nintendo Switch

Nintendo’s latest console offering promises to be their most diverse to hit the market yet. Featuring a wide variety of control options and a unique design unlike anything seen before, Nintendo fans are eager to see what this new console is capable of. While details are sparse, the technology looks to be a step in the right direction for Nintendo.

Prosthetics That Allow You to Feel

New prosthetic technology is in development that would allow the user to regain their sense of touch. This technology has not previously been available, and users have had to settle simply for functionality in regards to prosthetics. The device connects directly to the user’s remaining nerves and is able to both process the sense of touch, and able to be controlled directly by the user. The one major hurdle that developers still face is creating a processor for the technology that is small enough to be integrated within the implant itself. Check out this video to see the technology in action.

High-Powered Wireless Charging

As of now, there are currently limited options in regards to charging your mobile device, all of which involving the device being next to a charging source, such as a wire or a charging pad. However, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology is developing a wireless charging method that can be executed from a distance. The tech is capable of wirelessly powering devices up to 15 feet away using a magnetic field. Once this technology is available widespread to the public, it could be a game changer for the mobile technology market.

The Portable Healing Laser Pen

If you’re an outdoorsy type of person, then this may be the exact kind of insurance that you’re looking for. Imagine that you’re making a trek way out in the wilderness, and you stumble on a rock. You fall to the ground, and you slice your leg open. The blood loss that could result from the injury could be severe. However, with a portable healing laser pen, you’ll be able to temporarily seal up your wound and prevent a dangerous amount of blood loss from occurring.
