Sonos and Ikea tease new Symfonisk smart speakers

A hint of what’s to come from Sonos and Ikea.

The Sonos and Ikea partnership announced in December is now bearing fruit in the shape of these speakers. The non-functional prototypes are illustrative examples of what you can expect from Ikea’s new SYMFONISK range. In other words, the final product may or may not look like these prototypes. Nevertheless, Sonos says that the final products will fully integrate with Sonos’ existing range of wireless speakers an…

Samsung Galaxy S10 to feature an improved in-display Speakers (Leak)

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 is still far from launch, but the new rumors about the successful Galaxy S series drop on a weekly basis and this time around, we hear that Samsung might bring a different way to deliver sound on the Galaxy S10. However, its nothing like super innovative as we have already seen Xiaomi doing the same thing with their Mi Mix handset. Yes, you guessed it right delivering sound via the display. The Chinese Giant Xiaomi first introduced this technology on the Mi Mix via a piezoelectric vibrating mechanics, which vibrates the display to spread the sound across the board.

However, it fell short when compared to its Dual-Stereo speaker rivals, but it did help th…

Google smart speakers outsell Amazon for the first time last quarter

We may be Google fanboys, but it’s obvious that Amazon has long dominated the smart speaker game. But that may be changing soon, because in Q1 of 2018, Google beat Amazon in smart speaker sales for the first time.

Google sold 3.2 million devices during that time compared to Amazon’s 2.5 million in sales. It’s not a huge difference, but Google’s sales have quickly been catching up in the last year. This might be the turning point for the smart speaker game.

However, the competition is getting stronger outside of the two giants. Tmall Genie shipped 1.1 million speakers during that timne, with China being the main market. Xiaomi is also getting bigger wi…

Google Home Mini Mod Adds Line Out for Speakers

The Google Home Mini speaker is a good idea in theory: It can act as a small speaker for your tunes or entertainment, competes against the smaller Amazon Echo devices, and acts as a voice assistant satellite device for those who really like Google Assistant. However, problems have cropped up when it comes to user experience.

For one thing, the Home Mini has been crashing and eavesdropping on conversations (not at the same time, obviously), which hasn’t been great for publicity. But there’s another problem, a design flaw many users have noted – the Mini doesn’t have a line-out jack.

The lack of a line-out jack makes it difficult to link the Home Mini up to…

Google Assistant is coming to more devices, including speakers and appliances

Much like Amazon has done, Google is opening up Google Assistant to third parties. Though the companies virtual assistant has so far resided on smartphones and watches (and of course the Google Home), you’ll soon start to see it in products like speakers and appliances.

Google mentions that new speakers like the Zolo Mojo by Anker, TicHome Mini by Mobvoi and GA10 by Panasonic will feature Assistant built-in, as well as appliances from LG and others. Many new products with Assistant will be announced at IFA Berlin.

Of course, Google Assistant isn’t limited to speakers and appliances. Many new products will be announced that support Assistant control as well, wh…
