Smart speaker manufacturer Sonos is likely working on adding Alexa voice controls to its line of Internet of Things-connected products, as suggested by the company’s announcement for the upcoming updates to its privacy statement. The fact that the Santa Barbara, California-based company plans to introduce Alexa skills to its smart speakers is nothing new: Sonos Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Spence said in February this year that the company intends to release a set of new smart speakers integrated with Alexa by the end of 2017, with further plans to bake the artificial intelligence (AI) assistant into its other products.
The plan to incorporate Alexa voice controls into S…
Has voice control finally come of age? While I’ve been barking voice commands at my Amazon Echo for a while now, and using voice-activated assistants such as Siri on my smartphone for even longer, I hadn’t really considered how far voice recognition has come in recent years.
What really got me thinking about this was talking to one of our regular writers, who mentioned that they use voice recognition software to write all of their articles.
What astonished me about this revelation was that when reading their work I had no idea – as it was as accurate (both in spelling and grammar) as work written traditionally using a keyboard – sometime…

It’s officially almost the weekend and if you got something fun planned, you may want to consider sharing it with your friends/family using Snapchat’s latest tools. …

Users can include a website to their snaps by just tapping the Paperclip button. Your friends can then view the links from within the app by swiping up on your message.
Another new feature that comes to Snapchat is the abil…

MacRumors: Mac News and Rumors – All Stories
It’s been over three years since voice actress Susan Bennett came forward and revealed that she was the original female voice of Siri on iOS, which first debuted on the iPhone 4s in 2011. In a recent interview with Typeform, Bennett delved even deeper into her history with Apple and the early days of its virtual assistant.
In the interview, which is dotted with audio playback of Bennett’s voice so readers can compare her normal voice to that of Siri, the voice actress remembers recording a new project in July of 2005 for a text-to-speech company called ScanSoft.
