LeEco won’t be acquiring Vizio after all

In July of last year, it was announced that LeEco was undergoing the process of acquiring Vizio, the company best known for its TV lineup.

The plan at the time was that the Vizio brand would stay alive in the United States, but that LeEco would be installing its proprietary software on each of the TVs from that point on. The acquisition was expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016, and it was valued at $ 2 billion.

However, due to the “regulatory headwinds,” the acquisition of Vizio by LeEco has been cancelled altogether. Now the two companies have moved forward and struck a new deal.
