The bonanza day of bargains now commonly known as Cyber Monday marks the end of the year's biggest shopping weekend, kicking off with the US Thanksgiving holiday then moving into Black Friday: once the family celebrations are ended, waves of eager shoppers hit the high street, ready to seek out the best bargains.

The term "Cyber Monday" was coined more than a decade ago to encourage people to do more shopping online – web retailers offered more discounts, shoppers picked up more stuff, and the cycle has continued to get where we are today.
