Competition Commission of India (CCI) slaps massive penalty on Google for unfair search practices

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has slapped a huge penalty to the tune of Rs. 136 crore on Google. According to the judgment, Google has been doing unfair business practices in the online search market in India. The CCI pronounced the order after 6 years of legal battle. A complaint was filed in 2012 by Matrimony.com and Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS) against Google LLC, Google India Pvt Ltd, and Google Ireland Ltd.
